Men arrested for Calphalon theft
PERRYSBURG – Three men were arrested this week on charges related to a scheme involving the online sale
of stolen cookware on eBay.
According to township police, the operation had been occurring for more than nine months before the
Calphalon company – located at 310 Third St. – noticed in January that three employees had been selling
its premium-quality cookware through the online store, eBay.
Detective Sgt. Mark Hetrick said the employees were subsequently terminated. In connection to the
incident, police then handed felony theft charges to: Joseph C. Edwards, 24, of Northwood; Kevin M.
Willingham, 33, of Perrysburg; and Christopher M. Boyd, 20, also of Perrysburg.
Hetrick said the former employees worked together on the third shift and made a profit of about $15,000.
He said the merchandise was sold for less than the value established by Calphalon.
"They’d take individual pieces or like 10-piece sets or 12-piece sets and just take them home with
them when they left work and then sell it on eBay," Hetrick said.
Preliminary court dates have been scheduled on June 22 for Boyd and on July 9 for Willingham and Edwards.
