OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A United States Hockey League coach who led North Dakota to two titles will coach at
University of Nebraska at Omaha.
UNO athletics director Trev Alberts said Friday Dean Blais will be the new hockey coach.
Blais succeeds Mike Kemp, who became an associate athletic director last month.
Earlier Friday, Blais resigned as head coach and general manager of the Fargo Force.
Blais was named in May as head coach of the 2010 U.S. Men’s National Junior Team.
He won two national championships as coach of the University of North Dakota. He also was an assistant
coach with the U.S. Olympic team and associate head coach with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.
He coached the Fargo Force to the USHL finals this past season and was named the coach of the year.
