Big Brothers reports Pemberville boy seeks someone to hang out with

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio currently has 17 boys on the waiting list for a mentor in
Wood County. The boys have been waiting anywhere from a few months to two years for a match.
Thus the program is beginning a "Kid of the Month" feature in The Sentinel-Tribune to introduce
the public to each of the young people.
This month’s featured young man is Dakota, a 14-year-old Pemberville youth who would like a mentor in his
life to do things with him such as hunting, fishing, playing tennis, bowling, baseball and just to talk.

His case manager describes him as bright, funny and affectionate. Dakota interacts great with authority
figures. He also likes social studies and history in particular, with his favorite subject being
Medieval wars.
Dakota has been waiting for over 1 1/2 years for a positive male role model to step forward.
People who volunteer as a Big Brother or Big Sister spend quality time with a child, taking them places
and talking with one another. Volunteering only requires a couple hours a week, along with a one-year
commitment.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters report they enjoy doing "kid things" with their Little and feel
they are giving back to the community by mentoring a child.
For more information on how you can mentor Dakota or another great kid in the community, call Big
Brothers Big Sisters local office at (419) 354-2113 or email: [email protected].
