BG Youth Hockey sets travel tryouts
Bowling Green Youth Hockey is hosting travel team tryouts for the 2009-2010 season.
Tryout dates are: Squirt division (99 and 00 birth years) on June 10 and 17; Pee Wee division (97 and 98
birth years) on June 8 and 11; and Bantam division (95 and 96 birth years) on June 15 and 18.
All tryouts are from 8-9 p.m. at the Ice Arena. Cost is $10 per ice time.

Butler and Hillman named to Academic All-MAC Team
CLEVELAND – Seniors Kara Butler and Stephanie Hillman, members of the Bowling Green State University
track and field team, have been named Academic All-Mid-American Conference squad. A total of 39 athletes
received the award.
Butler finished third at the Outdoor MAC Championships in the 5,000 meters with a time of 17:21.04, her
fastest time of the season. She also had a pair of victories in the 3,000 meters, winning at the Toledo
Invitational and Detroit Titan Classic. Butler maintains a 3.73 grade-point average, majoring in
biology.
Hillman, who owns a perfect 4.00 GPA, majoring in dietetics, was the Falcons’ top runner this season in
the 10,000 meters, finishing third at the All-Ohio championships with a time of 38:42.08.
Falcons earn mention
Freddie Barnes, Nick Iovinelli, P.J. Mahone, Jerett Sanderson, Tyler Sheehan and Shane Steffy, six
members of the Bowling Green football team, were named in Phil Steele’s 2009 All-MAC Preseason Team.
Barnes and Mahone earned third team honors, while Iovinelli, Sheehan and Steffy were named to the fourth
team and Sanderson earned honorable mention.
Eastwood soccer plans youth camp
LUCKEY – The Eastwood High School soccer program will host a youth soccer camp July 6-8. Cost is $50 and
includes a camp T-shirt. The camp is for youth in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Forms are available at the Eastwood High School office. Registration deadline is July 1. For more

Platzer has hole-in-one
Ed Platzer had a hole-in-one Friday on the seventh hole at Bowling Green Country Club. He used a 7-iron
on the 132-yard hole.
Platzer, a lefty, was playing left-handed Friday. He had a hole-in-one playing right-handed in 1981.
Eastwood soccer to host tourney
LUCKEY – The Eastwood High School soccer program will be hosting an open 3-on-3 tournament (four man) for
boys and girls team July 9-10. Cost is $25 and times are to be announced.

Registration and waiver forms must be completed by each participant prior to play.
Eastwood MS wins baseball title
The Eastwood Middle School baseball travel team recently won the Southwood Middle School League
Tournament.
Eastwood defeated St. Wendelin, Lakota, Geona and then Margaretta 8-7 in the title game.
The Eagles are coached by Pat Luther and Mike Dierker.
Team members are: Logan Bess, Andy Blair, Ross Bockbrader, Steven Bruning, Skylar Dierker, Matt Drown,
Kody Gottfried, Adam Krukemyer, Garrett Leuck, Jordan Luther and Kyle Patterson.
