Owens sets names for new campus

Owens Community College looked to its past to come up with names to carry the college into the future.

As work continues on remodeling former Penta Career Center facilities, those buildings were assigned
temporary names. But on Tuesday, the college’s Board of Trustees accepted recommendations for permanent
names to reflect and integrate the history, traditions and values of Owens.
A Naming Review Committee recommended Founders Hall for the former Penta Administra-tion Building that
will house the college’s humanities and social science programs; Heritage Hall for the former Skills
Center that will hold Owens’ business, nursing education and culinary arts programs; and Alumni Mall for
the green space that will integrate the west side of the Perrysburg Township campus.
The names "play back to where we came from," explained Brian Paskvan, vice president of
administration.
Owens, an offshoot of Penta purchased the site in 2008.
