TONTOGANY – Nine members attended the June 3 meeting opened by President Barb Layman, with prayer by
Patti Wires.
A donation was received, to be used to purchase dish towels for the hall. Martha Thatcher sent
congratulations for meeting membership goal.
Members voted to give a donation to the post for updates and improvements and also to VA Clinic in
Toledo.
A new unit handbook will be purchased for each officer.
A Father’s Day Breakfast will be held June 21 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Tontogany Legion Post, for free
will donations. Anyone who can help is to contact Terri at 419-353-9666 or Barb at 419-352-8810.
Marilou Lehnert and Rita Euler attended the District Convention in Pemberville on June 6 and Layman will
attend Department convention in Dayton in June and also national convention in Louisville, Ky. Lehnert
attended the O.H.I.O (Ohio Helps Its Own) town hall meeting at BGSU on May 6. Maj. Gen. Gregory Wayt
spoke about how to support military families.
It was voted to send two World War II veterans on the Honor Flight trip.
Rita Euler reported on the Poppy Program.
There will be no meeting on July 1. Installation of officers will be done at 6 p.m. on July 15, followed
by potluck at 6:30, then Buckeye Girls State presentations and the regular meeting.
Members are reminded to make their donation for the Sandusky Veterans Home.
Get well cards will be sent to Ruth Alexander and Helen Wammes.
The next meeting is July 15.
