Equine help for students
LUCKEY – Serenity Farm offers help for struggling students. A 9-week program is set to begin Monday for
students suffering from failing grades.
"Pencils to Hoof Pics" will provide students the opportunity to improve the quality of their
educational journey through the use of equine-assisted therapy.
Registration is required to enroll by calling the office at (419) 833-1308.
The program will target the reasons for failing grads and how to get beyond the struggles for students
begging in eighth grade.
Scholarship photo contest ‘focuses’ on rural life
The Ohio Farmers Union Family Farm Center, Inc. and Miller-Warner Foundation, Inc. are inviting youth to
enter the 2009 Photography Scholarship contest for young people by submitting photos that best represent
country life in Ohio.
"Here’s a way for college-bound youth to literally focus on scholarship money this summer by using a
camera to record everyday life in rural Ohio," said OFU president Roger Wise.
The theme is "Rural Living in Ohio" and the contest will award $300 to the winner and $50 to
two runners-up.
The contest is open to any legal resident of the United States age 24 and younger, who are high school
juniors or seniors, or enrolled full-time as a college freshman, sophomore or junior.
Photographs must be postmarked by Aug. 31.
Complete rules and contest entries are available from www.ohfarmersunion.org or call (800) 321-3671.
