Derek Hough, 40, of Hoytville, suffered severe injuries early this morning following a crash of his
motorcycle on Cygnet Road just east of Ohio 199, near West Millgrove.
According to the Ohio State Patrol, at 1:29 a.m. Hough was riding his Harley-Davidson eastbound on Cygnet
Road, nearly a half-mile east of Route 199, when an animal came into his path. A spokesperson for OHP
indicated she heard it was a dog, but the animal was not identified in the report.
After striking the animal, Hough was thrown from his cycle and landed in a residential yard on the south
side of the road. The cycle continued eastbound and landed in the roadway.
Hough was transported to Wood County Hospital by Bloomdale EMS and later transported to St. Vincent Mercy
Medical Center by air ambulance.
