Robert W. Fleming, 84, of Bowling Green, died Saturday (May 24, 2009) at Oak Grove Healthcare Center in
Deshler.
He worked for H.J. Heinz in Fremont for 30 years.
Mr, Fleming was past president of the AFL-CIO for 12 years.
Born Aug. 10, 1924 in Lima to Hugh Edward and Gusta (Combs) Fleming, he married Mary Margaret Allen on
Sept. 9, 1944. She died in January 2001.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Hugh; and two sisters, Betty Jane and Mary
Katherine Fleming.
Surviving are a son, Robert W., of Toledo; two daughters, Evelyn Tietje, Hamler, and Mary Myers, of
Marion; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private and there will be no visitation.
