HOYTVILLE – The funeral for Alvina B. (Pas) Buchanan will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rodenberger
Funeral Home, Deshler. Pastor Gene Yenser will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery,
Deshler.
Visitation is today from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Buchanan, 97, of Hoytville, died Friday (May 29, 2009) at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center,
Findlay.
For many years earlier in life, she served as a midwife for many families in the Jackson
Township-Hoytville area.
She was a member of Deshler Church of the Brethren, and she also worked the polls for the Wood County
Board of Elections at the Jackson Township precinct.
Mrs. Buchanan attended Jackson Township High School.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking.
Born March 22, 1912 in Streator, Ill., to Henry and Gotthelfa (Kohn) Pas, she married George C. Buchanan
on June 8, 1935. He died Aug. 27, 1974.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, George Pas; and four sisters, Augusta Hartman, Marie George,
Anna Pas and Laura Davis.
Surviving are two daughters, Bertha Carter, Cygnet, and Alma Ault, Dayton; a son, Donald, of Anchorage,
Alaska; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the church, American Heart Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
