8-year-old in critical condition
PERRYSBURG – An eight-year-old Perrysburg Township girl remained in critical condition this morning after
she was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon while playing on Reitz Road.
The accident occurred when Douglas K. Rhodes, Carter Road, Bowling Green, was westbound on Reitz Road
about 4:30 p.m. and struck Rebecca Wells, 8, of 7630 Reitz Road.
She was taken from the scene by air ambulance to Toledo’s St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
Troopers from the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol say the youngster was apparently playing
in the roadway. Their investigation continues.
After the collision, Rhodes’ vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and a fence before it came to a
stop. He was not injured.
180th ANG plans weekend training
Members of the 180th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard at Toledo Express Airport will hold an
Operational Readiness Exercise Saturday and Sunday.
The ORE is part of the Ability to Survive and Operate Training that all airmen practice. Airmen will wear
their chemical gear and gas masks, conduct self-aid and buddy care and take cover at different times
throughout the exercise.
Residents who live near the base may see or hear additional flying extending into the evening, notice
smoke, the sound of explosions, sirens or other unusual activities associated with the exercise.
Thrivent chapter meets Sunday
The next meeting of the Board of Wood County Chapter No. 30023 of Thrivent Financial will be Sunday at
2:30 p.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 Indiana Ave., Perrysburg. Any member of Thrivent is welcome to
attend.
Food pantry for Lake Twp. residents
WALBRIDGE – A food pantry for Lake Township residents will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at fire
station 1, 4505 Walbridge Road.
The mobile pantry will be at the station every third Monday.
Members of Hannah’s Socks will also be there, passing out free socks to anyone in need.
Local title office opens late Tuesday
The Title Office of the Wood County Clerk of Courts will be open late Tuesday.
Wood County Clerk of Court Cindy Hofner said the delay will allow an upgrade to the Title Operating
System to be installed.
She anticipates the office will open at 9 a.m.
