Toledo Central Catholic scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to slip past Bowling Green, 3-2
in a Division II sectional final game at Maumee’s Rolf Park.
"This was the fifth time this year we saw Central Catholic, including one scrimmage," BG head
coach Erin Schneider said. "Coming into this game, we were 2-2 with them and it’s hard to beat a
team three times and we knew that going in."
The Bobcats, 11-11 overall, took a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth on Kara Bihn’s double. Central
Catholic, 16-7 overall, responded with single runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth to gain the victory
and advance. Erin Seiler hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and force extra
innings.
Bihn was 2-for-3 with two doubles and both RBI for the Bobcats while Megan LeGalley was 2-for-4 with a
stolen base.
"I asked my girls to leave it all on the field, control the tempo of the game, be aggressive and
they did all those things," Schneider said. "There is really nothing more I could ask from
them.
"I feel like they gave me 100 percent and they rallied throughout the whole game … it just went
Central’s way."
Rachel Irick pitched a strong game for the Bobcats.
"Both pitchers did a really great job," Schneider said. "That’s what this game came down
to … being able to control the tempo when you’re in the batter’s box.
"Rachel threw an excellent game," she continued. "She went the whole eight innings on her
own … She struck out several hitters and she just had one get away from her."
