Apply for Buckeye Boys StateThe Wood County Council of the American Legion will soon be selecting
delegates to attend the June 8-15 American Legion Buckeye Boys State program.Students who attend Northwood
High School and Lake High School are the only students who are eligible to apply. By June, a student must
have completed the 11th grade and have at least one semester left prior to graduation.Students may pick up
an application in their principal’s office.Home-schooled students and private and parochial students who
live within the school district boundaries of either district are encouraged to apply. These students can

Toledo Zoo’s Noon Year’s EveTOLEDO – Everyone loves to ring in the New Year, but for little ones midnight is
just too late.That’s why the Toledo Zoo presents Noon Year’s Eve on Dec. 31. The family will watch the ball
rise at the stroke of noon, sing a chorus of "Auld Lang Syne" and toast the New Year with
family-friendly fun.Activities run 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.Enjoy music, games and activities with Radio Disney,
watch an ice-carving demonstration and sign some New Year’s ReZOOlutions – simple things your family can do
to make 2014 a little greener.The award-winning children’s zoo, Nature’s Neighborhood, will be open.This is
also the last chance to enjoy the outdoor ice rink. On Dec. 31 only, the ice rink opens early, at 11 a.m.,
for one last skate. Visitor can bring their own skates or rent them.These events, along with animal feeding
and enrichment demonstrations across the zoo, are included free with regular zoo admission.For more

of the Lights Before Christmas.The lights open at 3 p.m. daily; closing hours vary. Toledo Zoo members
receive unlimited free Monday-Thursday visits to the Lights, plus one free weekend visit.Registration is
also open for the springtime Medical Mutual Dart Frog Dash. It’s a fun 5K run/walk through the zoo and
surrounding areas, with a separate 1K "fun run" for the kids.Sign up at Noon Year’s Eve and get
help every step of the way, with regular tips on training and nutrition – right up to race day.In December,
the Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily (closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) and is located
on the Anthony Wayne Trail, four miles south of downtown Toledo.The Lights Before Christmas runs through
