'Break-It Make-It' at the library
Youth, ages 10 and up, are invited to the Children's Place of the Wood County District Public Library for another "Break It and Make It with Home Depot" on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m.
This monthly hands-on program and partnership between the Children's Place and Team Depot will investigate how different kinds of toys work and what parts make them up.
All tools and safety equipment will be provided.

Legopalooza at the Library
Families are invited to drop in for the monthly Legopalooza program at the Children's Place of the Wood County District Public Library on Sunday anytime between 2 and 3 p.m.  
The library staff will share its Lego collection along with books for creative ideas and stories.

Join webcast with 'Thief' author and director
The Wood County District Public Library will live-stream a webcast conversation between the author and director of "The Book Thief" on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Programming Room of the Children's Place.  
To celebrate the release of "The Book Thief" motion picture, Markus Zusak and Brian Percival will come together to discuss the process of bringing this novel to the big screen.
Percival is an award-winning British film director, most recently for the BBC series "Downton Abbey."
Their moderated discussion will include a showing of the trailer and clips from the movie. The event will be held in New York City at the School of Visual Arts and is organized by Twentieth Century Fox, Fox 2000 Pictures and Random House; the live streaming is available to schools and libraries.
The novel by Australian author Zusak tells the story of one German family who clandestinely defies Hitler and Nazism through a series of large and small acts, including hiding a Jew, which tests their conscience and their courage.
Published in 2005, the "The Book Thief" spent more than 230 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
The book was required summer reading for this year's freshman Bowling Green High School Honors English class.
The movie opens in theaters on Nov. 15. It stars Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson and newcomer, Sophie Nélisse.

'Pizza & Pages' club meets
"Pizza and Pages," the Bowling Green Middle School book club, will meet on Nov. 19 at 2:30 p.m. in the school's media center.
"Pizza and Pages" is a partnership between school and Wood County District Public Library and is open to all area sixth-eighth-graders.
The Children's Place of the Wood County District Public Library has multiple copies of the pre-selected books.
This month, historical fiction and related nonfiction companions have been paired.

Register for Upward sports
Registration for Upward 2014 basketball and cheerleading registration is open.
Upward Basketball is a basketball league for children, grades K-8. It's an evangelistic sports ministry designed to promote community outreach and develop volunteer leadership.

Registering before evaluations is encouraged. There will several laptops available at evaluations if needed.
Only cash or checks during evaluations will be taken.
Dates for evaluations are Nov. 15  and Dec. 6 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and Nov. 16 and Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bowling Green Church of the Nazarene, 1855 Gorrill Road.
The last day to register is Dec. 8. Everyone must attend one basketball evaluation or cheerleading orientation.

BG girl raises funds for
People to People trip
Proceeds from a holiday open house will help fund a Bowling Green girl's participation in the  People to People Ambassador Program.
Madi's Holiday Open House, organized by Madi Nannini, a sixth-grader at Bowling Green Middle School, will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Foxgate Condominiums Clubhouse, 14 Foxgate Circle.
Vendors will include Tastefully Simple, Eden Organics by Cassady, 31 Bags, Perfectly Posh LLC and Doterra Essential Oils.
