Kids’ Shakespeare on stage at Toledo Botanical Garden
TOLEDO — The Children’s Theatre Workshop will be performing Shakespeare on Friday at the Toledo Botanical Garden. Guests will be able to enjoy the lush garden scenery from 6:30 to 9 p.m. as they watch the show.
The Children’s Theatre Workshop works with children, ages 5 to 18, from Toledo and the surrounding areas. The group began in 1954 with the purpose to provide theater training for area youth. The non-profit arts organization performs all over the city and the Toledo Botanical Garden is thrilled to host a performance by this energetic group.
The performance will be accompanied by other activities including face painting, arts and crafts and costume creation.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to this exciting event. The garden gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Audition for children’s choir
WHITEHOUSE — The Children’s Choir of Northwest Ohio, a community choir for students interested in sharing a love of singing and expanding their musical horizons, is now scheduling ensemble-style auditions for grades 3-10.
Auditions will be held in early September. There is no need to prepare a piece; students will be grouped with peers and will perform various exercises with an experienced choral music educator/director.
The children’s choir is entering its seventh season, and holds weekly Monday evening rehearsals in Whitehouse. The choir has two groups, “Jubilate” for grades 3-5 and “Bel Canto” for grades 5-10, to allow for maximum training and development of each singer individually, and each group as a whole.
The choir has performed at the Toledo Museum of Art, the Valentine Theater, the Stroh Center (with Kenny Rogers), the Toledo MudHens and Toledo Walleye, Lourdes College, Maumee Valley Country Day Theater, and with local recording artist Kerry Patrick Clark. The choir has also traveled to perform at the Southeast Ohio Children’s Choir Festival and at Ash Cave in Hocking Hills.
Contact the choir before Sept. 2 to reserve a spot on the 2013-14 audition schedule. Contact them at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ,, or (419) 377-7710.
