Young Rep puts on 'Fiddler'
TOLEDO - TheĀ Toledo Repertoire Theatre presents the Young Rep production of "Fiddler on the Roof" this week at the theater, 16 W. 10th St.
The cast ranging in age from 14-19 brings to life the story of Tevye, a very traditional Jewish father, trying to adjust to the radical, changing times affecting his family and village. The principal roles will be performed by Keith Dona of Sylvania as Tevye and Abby Stephens of Perrysburg as his wife, Golde. Their daughters are portrayed by Waterville resident Anna Birkmeier as Tzeitel, Toledo resident Drew Longmore as Hodel, and Josie Groll, Lambertville, as Chava.
Local youth also serve as the music director and choreographer on the production staff. The show will run July tonight, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. with the final performance on Sunday, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults and are available at www.ToledoRep.org or by calling (419) 243-9277.
Donate supplies at Staples
This summer, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Staples are teaming up with teen actor Jake T. Austin for the sixth annual Staples for Students national school supply drive.
Through Sept. 28, customers can donate $1 or more at their local Staples store with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting students at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo. Boys & Girls Clubs of America's mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
The local store to make a donation is located at 1080 South Main St.
Staples will donate $125,000 worth of school supplies to the program. Since 2008, the campaign has raised nearly $3 million for hundreds of thousands of students in need throughout the country.
TeensĀ can visit the Staples for Students Facebook page to help drive donations. Teens will be rewarded with donations on their behalf to Boys & Girls Clubs and coupons for school supplies.
