Children’s Place participates in downtown Art Walk
Families are invited to the Wood County District Public Library Children’s Place during Art Walk on
Saturday.
At 10:30 a.m., the Bowling Green State University music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota will offer an
"Instrument Petting Zoo." Look, listen, and touch musical instruments and enjoy music stories.

‘Break-It Make-It with Home Depot’ at the library
Youth, ages 10 and older, are invited to the Children’s Place of the Wood County District Public Library
for another "Break It and Make It with Home Depot" on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m.
This monthly hands-on program and partnership between the Children’s Place and Team Depot will
deconstruct, investigate and tinker with various gadgets.
This Saturday, for the downtown Art Walk, each person attending will get hands-on tinkering fun with
various items that an artist may use to create their artwork. All tools and safety equipment will be
provided.

Home Depot crew also visits Pemberville library
PEMBERVILLE – Interested in taking electronic equipment apart and seeing how it works?
Come to the Pemberville Public Library and work with a representative of Home Depot on Saturday from noon
to 1 p.m. The program is for children ages 10 and older.

Pop into ‘Poppins’ set
A "Mary Poppins" creative drama workshop and backstage tour for kids will be held Sunday from 1
to 2:15 p.m. in the Bowling Green Middle School cafeteria.
The even is for children ages 4 to 11. The cost is $5 per child, with parents free.
Play theater games and act out stories from "Mary Poppins" with cast members, and take a
backstage tour of the set, props and flying equipment.

Library holds a Fiesta
A "Book Fiesta!" will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Wood County District Public Library.

Celebrate Spanish language and Latino culture with La Conexion de Wood County. There will be a
Spanish/English storytime, musical entertainment and chips and salsa.
Ever family will receive a Spanish or English gift book.

Learn outdoor skills
ROSSFORD – A free kids’ outdoor skills challenge will be held at Bass Pro Shops May 3 and 4 from noon to
5 p.m.
Skills include, casting, archery, knot tying and a scavenger hunt. There will also be crafts.
A free kids’ seminar, "Can you think like a fish?" will be held at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Beat dance benefit is May 10
PEMBERVILLE – A dinner to benefit the Beat Dance Company dancers and to help fund a trip to national
competition will be held May 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
There will be a spaghetti dinner with breadsticks, salad and desserts. There will also be a silent
auction, which includes a Sunday brunch for two at the French Quarter, and performances by Beat dancers.

This is a fundraiser to send several Beat dancers to DanceMakers Inc. competition in June in Myrtle
Beach, S.C.

Hop over to Wintergarden Park for ‘Fabulous Frogs’
"Fabulous Frogs" will be held May 12 at Wintergarden/St. John’s Nature Preserve off
Wintergarden Road from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Join staff members from Bowling Green Parks and Recreation and the Wood County District Public Library
for the installation of the "Fabulous Frogs" storybook trail. Then get your hands wet
exploring the wetland for living creatures, big and small.
This is a free, drop-in program for all ages.
Happy 11th birthday, Louie!
TOLEDO – Come celebrate Louie the African elephant’s 11th birthday on Sunday at the Toledo Zoo’s Tembo
Trail.
At 11 a.m., Louie gets fun enrichment gifts that staff and volunteers have spent weeks creating.
At 1:30 p.m., he gets a cake, weighing in at 40 pounds or more, which the zoo’s catering department
prepared for him.
The recipe includes cornmeal, fruits, vegetables and more of his favorite treats, including lots of
peanut butter.
Louie’s birthday party is free with regular zoo admission. Learn more at toledozoo.org/louie.
The zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (starting May 3, weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and
