Audition for spring session of the Terra Children's Choir
FREMONT - The Terra State Children's Choir is holding auditions for its spring session.
The choir is an auditioned choral ensemble, for singers in grades three through eight, that provides a performance-based music education for the members of the group. The children's choir goal is to shape the future by making a difference in the lives of children through musical excellence.
Directed by Traci Newsome, the Terra State Children's Choir works to produce healthy and expressive singing habits by encouraging proper vocal technique, an understanding of musical concepts, rehearsal and performance techniques, and basic music reading skills. The ensemble will perform age-appropriate unison, two-part, and three-part songs in the form of canons, songs, and partner songs.
Repertoire will be selected from a variety of time periods and a wide range of genres and cultures. The children's choir seeks to promote increased self-esteem, pride and accomplishment and to contribute to the cultural life of our members and members of the community.
Auditions will be held on Monday at Terra State Community College. No preparation is necessary. The audition process is simply intended to assess whether or not the student has the ability to sing in tune. Auditions will be completed in five minutes.
Rehearsals will be on Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m., beginning Feb. 4. Cost to participate is $35 per semester. This includes all fees for children's music and materials.
