More than books at libraries, including CPR, scary makeup

Several activities geared toward children are being offered at local libraries.At the Wood
County District Public Library on Saturday, families are invited to join Kelly Pheneger of WBGU-TV for
stories, music, activities and crafts.She will also talk about PBS-Kids web resources.The program runs
from 2 to 3 p.m.In Rossford, Pete the Cat will be at the library on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to
celebrate his latest book "Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses."Families are invited to
bring cameras for pictures with Pete and hear some favorite Pete the Cat stories.On Oct. 7, also in
Rossford, representatives from Costume Holiday House will talk about the art of make-up special effects
and do some demonstrations.The free event starts at 6:30 p.m.At Way Public Library in Perrysburg, a CPR
and First Aid for Babysitters program, for student sage 11-15, will be held Oct. 5 from 12:30 to 4:30
p.m.Register at the Youth Services Desk.A $30 fee required at time of registration.The program is
presented by the Perrysburg Fire Division.Way’s Pizza and Pages book club selection for next month is
"The Giver," by Lois Lowry.Pick up a copy now to get ready for the Oct. 25, 7 p.m. discussion.
This program is for ages 11-15.The first Bookaneers book club meeting, for ages 7-10, is Oct. 10 from 4
to 5 p.m. at Way Public Library.October’s book will be "The Magical Ms. Plum" by Bonny Becker.
