|Local parks programs focus on astronomy and turtles|

Two Wood County Parks District programs for children are scheduled for next week.
Astronomy Basics, which can be taken for an astronomy merit badge for area Boy Scouts, will be held on Sept. 5 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve in Perrysburg.
Also, an astronomy observation session is scheduled for Sept. 7 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Beaver Creek Preserve.
Learn some astronomy basics with a naturalist, then join members of the Toledo Astronomical Association at an observation session using the telescope at Beaver Creek Preserve.
Participants must attend an astronomy basics class before attending an observation session.
Registration is required for this program.
A Preschoolers In the Parks program focusing on turtles will be held Sept. 7 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve.
This is for children ages 3-6. Participants will enjoy a short story and a craft.
Adult companions must remain with children for this program.
