MILLBURY - The Lake Young Runners Club continues to develop and grow.
The group, which also includes children from the Eastwood School District, has added track and field events, such as long jump and hurdles, into the programming. Organizer Ruben Viramontez Anguiano said some of the events are adapted for younger children,
"We constructed hurdles that were appropriate to the children's height and age," Anguiano said. "The shot put, we used a soft ball. For the runs we based the distance and sprints based on the grade of the children.
Children in grades kindergarten and first ran the 40-yard dash and ran no longer than the 800. The older children ran farther.
At a meet earlier this month at Lake High School, approximately 40 children from Perrysburg, Oregon, Rossford and Toledo joined the Lake and Eastwood kids.
