Horizon Youth Theatre is offering several summer classes starting next week.
In "Shakespeare,: the students will be working on excerpts from Shakespeare plays and will also be practicing with Shakespearian monologues. The students will be learning more about the plays of Shakespeare and how to speak the particular language that Shakespeare uses in his plays. Students will be looking at different words and their meanings and through this instruction will be able to learn how to effectively perform Shakespeare on stage.
Shakespeare classes are for students ages 13-18. The classes will be held in room 208 at the Wolfe Center on the Bowling Green State University campus every Sunday from 3 to 5p.m. starting this Sunday. There will be a showcase on Aug. 3.
"Audition Preparation" will provide students with the knowledge to be able to go into an audition completely prepared and ready to impress the director. The students will be working on how to prepare monologues, both contemporary and traditional. The students will also be taught what directors expect in the audition room and how to be prepared to be given scenes to read during auditions.
Audition Preparation classes are for students ages 9-12. The classes will be held in room 203 at the Wolfe Center every Sunday from 1to 3 p.m. starting this Sunday. There will be a showcase on Aug. 3.
During Poetry in Theater, students will be reading different children's poems and will be working on making those poems come to life on the stage. The students will also be working on a couple of basics of the stage and will be learning some basic blocking that they can apply to their poetry scenes.
Poetry in Theater classes are for students ages 6-8 and will be held in room 211 at the Wolfe Center every Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. starting Saturday. There will be a showcase on Aug. 3.
