Elementary students to compete in Wood County Youth Olympics PDF Print E-mail

The Wood County Prosecutor's Office will host the 15th Annual Wood County Youth Olympics Saturday at the Perry Field House on the Bowling Green State University campus.
It will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  
The free event that is open to 500 fourth and fifth-grade students who attend school in or reside in Wood County.
The Bowling Green State University cheerleading squad, directed by Anne Marie King, will be the special guests during the opening ceremony.
They will be joined by over 200 volunteers from the community, including elected officials, Wood County employees, school employees and law enforcement personnel.  
A schedule for the day:
Morning session
8 to 8:30 a.m., registration
8:30 to 9:15 a.m., opening ceremony
9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., events
12:15 to 12:40 p.m., awards ceremony
Afternoon session
2 to 2:30 p.m., registration
2:30 - 3:15 p.m., opening ceremony
3:15 - 6:15 p.m., events
6:15 - 6:40 p.m., awards ceremony
All 500 participants will take part in Olympic-type events, as individuals and teams, where they have the opportunity to win gold, silver, and bronze medals.  
Each student will receive a Youth Olympics carabineer, a T-shirt, a lanyard, and a Burger King coupon.
Wood County Youth Olympics Committee Members include Wood County Prosecutor Paul Dobson and his staff members Brandy Hartman, John Helm, Molly Mack, Walter Meneses, Carrie Mancuso, Gwen Howe-Gebers and Heather Baker.
Other committee members include:
Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn, Jason Stanley and Robin Short of the Bowling Green Police Division; Luci Gernot, Jackie Roberts and Jessica Schulte, community members; Chris Gajewicz, Bowling Green Parks and Recreation; Emily Dunipace, Wood Lane, and Jodi Johnson, Rossford Police Department.
