Bowling Green High School senior Noah Lanning, a member of Troop 345, recently achieved Eagle rank, the
highest advancement for youth involved in Boy Scouts of America.
A new stage in the youth drama room at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church was designed and built under Noah’s
leadership for his Eagle Service Project.
"The stage has benefitted St. Mark’s in many ways," said Chris Stuberg, director of youth
ministries. "Most obviously, it’s a place for Sunday school kids to learn about Jesus and explore
the Bible through drama, dance, and movement.
"Having a stage to use heightens the experience and gives what we learn about in Sunday school more
of an impact. It’s also used by the junior and senior high youth as a place to gather and worship during
youth group time, and a place to reflect on what God is doing in our lives and in our world."
Rich Shedron served as Noah’s Scoutmaster through most of his journey through Boy Scouts, while Jody
Germann guided him at the end of his trail to Eagle.
Through Boy Scouts, Noah was afforded the opportunity to travel with fellow troop members on a 70-mile
backpacking expedition along Laurel Mountain in Pennsylvania and to West Point Military Academy for a
weekend. Last summer he spent 12 days backpacking and rock-climbing a challenging, mountainous, 63-plus
mile trek at BSA’s high adventure Philmont near Cimarron, N.M.
Noah, who is the son of Rod and Amy Lanning of rural Bowling Green, has been accepted to the College of
Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati where he will begin his studies in the
fall.
He is an active member of St. Mark’s and its youth group.
At school, he is a varsity letter winner and scholar-athlete in cross country and track at BGHS, and he
has participated in the drama club, archery team, soccer, Model United Nations, and Venture Crew. Noah
has been inducted into the National Honor Society and German Honor Society and was selected as a
delegate to Buckeye Boys State as well as BG Leadership, a community program designed to foster
tomorrow’s leaders.
Noah’s volunteering efforts have benefitted the Appalachia Service Project, Bowling Green Christian Food
Pantry, Bowling Green Parks and Recreation, and he has also served as a coach for Lil’ Kickers youth
community soccer program. He enjoys playing guitar in his spare time.
