knaggs-ObitMelvin R. Knaggs, 80, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital.
He was born in Toledo on December 8, 1929 to Arvin and Luretha (Graybill) Knaggs.
Melvin was employed for 40 years as a longshoreman at the Toledo Lakefront Docks, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of St. Jerome Church and the Eagles Club. Melvin loved woodworking, camping and gardening and especially restoring vintage cars. But his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family.
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; son, Ken (Valerie); daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Armitage and Ruth (B.Les III) Huffman; grandchildren, Angie (Jeff) Kramp, Kristina (Toby) Curtis, Brianna Small, Scarlet (Dan) D'Amore, Bernie (Holly) Huffman, Ruthann (David) McFarlane, Brock, Brooke and Brant Knaggs Ward; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ralph-Strite-ObitRalph Galen Strite, 95, of Findlay, OH passed away at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his residence.
Ralph was born November 3, 1914 in Putnam County to the late Lewis and Sarah (Shank) Strite.
Ralph was quite proud of his basketball and football career at Mt. Cory, graduating in 1934.
Ralph married Katheryn Ziegler on March 12, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deshler, OH and she survives. They lived on their farm in Marion Township for 55 years.
Ralph was a farmer for most of his life. He worked at Cooper Tire and Rubber as a mill worker until his retirement in 1979.
Ralph was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Findlay where he had served on the Church Council, and was an avid member of the Lutheran Dartball League for many years.
After his retirement he continued to enjoy gardening. He would occasionally travel with his wife - as long as it did not interfere with his gardening! In addition to his gardening, he will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his special laugh and his generosity. He enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The memorial service for Gerald D. Murray, 76, of Littleton, Colo., and formerly of Bowling Green, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Prout Chapel on the campus of Bowling Green State University.
Mr. Murray died June 14, 2010.

TorresObitDaniel Torres, 46, of Lancaster, Ohio and formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away July 27, 2010.
Daniel was born in Napoleon, Ohio to Ernest and Maria Torres and they survive in Bowling Green. Also surviving are two daughters: Rosemary Hetz, Toledo, Ohio and Khya Torres, Lancaster, Ohio and his son, Daniel Torres Jr., who is serving in the U.S. Army in Texas; three grandchildren; two sisters: Susan (Frank) Orwig, Rudolph, Ohio and Tina (Dave Johnson) Romero of Bowling Green, Ohio; his brother, Billy Torres and his step-father, Lorenzon Flores, both of Bowling Green.
His brother, Joey Torres, and a sister, Maria Bowley, preceded him in death.

michaelis_00003Clifford Marion "Tip" Michaelis, age 92, passed away, in his home, on Sunday, July 25, 2010.
He was surrounded by Ruth, his wife of 66 years, his son, Thomas, daughter, Cheri, and son-in-law, Don.
He was born Oct. 29, 1917, on his parents' farm in Wood County, Ohio. He was the second of eleven children born to Ed and Bessie Michaelis.
He graduated from Tontogany School. In 1937 he entered Bowling Green State University where he lettered in baseball and basketball. In 1942, Clifford enlisted in the Army Air Corps even though he had never been inside an airplane. He had flight training in Oklahoma City where he met and married Ruth Harrison. Clifford was assigned to fly transport planes in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater. He flew 129 missions over the Himalayan Mountains and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Asiatic Theater Ribbon, and five Battle Stars.
After WWII, he and Ruth returned to Northwest Ohio and began farming. With Ruth's encouragement, he returned to BGSU and received a BA and Masters degree in Education.
