ATHENS - Bowling Green's women's cross country team finished seventh in the Mid-American Conference championships with 212 points. Miami won the 12-team meet with 44 points. Freshman Abby Koch led the Falcons, finishing 26th in 23:40.5. Also running for the Falcons were: Carly Wells, 31st, 23:50; Heather Conger, 42nd, 24:06.0; Andrea Pereira de Almeida, 52nd, 24:20.1; Sally Kandie, 61st, 24:32.9; Barbara Powers, 63rd, 24:34.6; and Ashley Fischer, 67th, 24:46.5. Pereira de Almeida and Powers are from Bowling Green High School. BG men finish ninth at MAC ATHENS - Bowling Green's men's cross country team finished ninth in the Mid-American Conference championships with 283 points. Eastern Michigan won the nine-team meet with 30 points. Chris Moody led the Falcons finishing 48th overall in 27:53.5. Also running for BG were: Jason Salyer, 56th, 28:19.3; Jesse Smuda, 58th, 28:53.6; Ben Leininger, 60th, 29:27.8; Johnstone Kirui, 61st, 29:82.2; Abraham Busienei, 62nd, 29:45.6; and Peter Miles, 63rd, 29:50.7. BGSU volleyball loses AKRON - Akron defeated Bowling Green, 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 in a Mid-American Conference match Saturday. BG is 10-17 overall and 3-9 in the MAC. Emily Kauth led Bowling Green with 12 kills and Corey Domek and Noelle Spitler had nine each. Domek added 15 digs and Allison Kearny handed out 35 assists. NIU downs BG men's soccer Northern Illinois defeated Bowling Green men's soccer team 3-0 in Mid-American Conference play Saturday. BG is 2-11-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the MAC. Dylan Schoettley made three saves for the Falcons. BG had 12 total shots in t e game, with seven being on goal. Falcon swimmers lose Ball State beat Bowling Green, 153-141 in Mid-American Conference women's swimming action on Saturday at Ball State. BG is 0-2 overall this season. The Falcons has 21 top-three finishes, including seven individual first place finishes and two relay victories. Eight of those 21 victories came from freshmen Falcons, with Alexis Kain claiming two first-place victories. Kain won the 100 (1:07.38) and 200 (2:26.80) breast strokes and was a member of the winning 400 medley relay team. The 200 freestyle relay team also won. Other individual winners for BG were: Meg Richardson, 50 (24.12) and 100 (52.52) freestyles; Emily Bennett, 200 freestyle (1:55.34); Vicky Yv, 200 butterfly (2:08.28); and Sarah Burston, 200 medley relay (2:10.27). Jamie Akenberger, a Bowling Green High School graduate, was third in the 200 backstroke (2:09.17) for the Falcons. On Friday at Eastern Michigan, the Eagles posted a 154-119 victory. BG's winners were: Richardson, 50 freestyle (23.82); Yu, 100 butterfly (57.85: and Byrston, 200 individual medley (2:11.34). The Falcons also had two relay victories. Comments (0) |
