MILLBURY - The Lake Schools Athletics Boosters have started fundraising for the school's multi-use athletic building. The building is a 3,000 square foot brick facility that is located directly behind the track/soccer bleachers at Lake High School. It will have men's and women's public restrooms, a concession stand, a covered picnic area, a storage room and a press box. The building will service boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track, baseball, softball, and boys and girls cross country. The building is entirely funded through private donations and booster club funds. No school district tax monies are being used on this project. Construction of the building has begun and should be completed by the end of summer. The booster club has taken a 15-year loan to pay the balance of construction costs after a generous donation to begin construction. Construction of the building is under the management of The Delventhal Company, with financing is being provided through the Genoa Bank. Private donations and corporate sponsorships are being accepted with special recognition. In addition, a "Brick Recognition Fundraiser" is being offered through the club. Engraved bricks, built into the walls of the building, can be purchased. A person's name and a message can be permanently put in to the walls of this building, for all to see for many years. There are three levels of fundraising bricks, $100, $250 and $500. The Lake Athletic Boosters also will accept any other donations to help pay down the loan. Other fundraisers the booster club are membership dues, 50-50 raffles, reverse raffle and 200 Club. To purchase a brick, make a donation or to have questions answered, contact athletics booster club treasurer Tom Steedman at (419) 261-2727 or athletics director Dave Shaffer at (419) 661-6641.
