World War II veterans (top) who belong to the Troy-Webster American Legion Post gathered
Saturday at the legion hall in Luckey to celebrate the 90th birthday of George Brinker, who served in
the European Theater. Pictured are fellow vets (standing, from left) Art Helm, Brinker, George McCrary,
Wayne Young, (front row, from left) Merril Shaffer, Glen Briggs and Lloyd Rolf. They represent most
surviving members of the group of men who originally built the hall back in the late 1940s. Brinker and
his wife now live in Florida, but are in Luckey for a brief visit. In the photo at bottom, Esther Spahn
wishes Brinker a happy 90th birthday during the celebration.(Photos: Shane
