County seniors, name the tune
PERRYSBURG - "Name that Tune," a county-wide seniors' event, will be held June 20 at 1 p.m. at the Perrysburg Area Senior Center, 140 W. Indiana Ave.
All senior centers and clubs are invited to form teams to challenge each other to a game of "Name That Tune" featuring pianist "Ragtime Rick."
To register one's team or for more information on this program contact the Perrysburg Area Senior Center at (419) 874-0847, or inform any of the other county senior center site managers of one's interest. Registration required by next Thursday.
The event is sponsored by St. Clare Commons and Senior Helpers.
Transitions workshop to feature Giving Back project
Wood County's Transitions Group, for those with mild to moderate cognitive impairment, will hold its June program on Tuesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St., Bowling Green. The day's theme will feature the Giving Back Project.
Transitions is a collaboration between the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, and Clare Bridge of Bowling Green.
The group focuses on social and educational opportunities and group sharing. Persons who are experiencing forgetfulness, mild confusion or difficulty finding the right words are most likely to benefit. Registration is requested. Call the Alzheimer's Association at 1-800-272-3900.
Transitions meets the second Tuesday of each month. Call the Wood County Committee on Aging at (419) 353-5661 for the location and program of the July 9 session.
Alzheimer's walk kickoff event June 18
TOLEDO - A Walk to End Alzheimer's Kickoff and registration event will be held June 18 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Senior Star, West Park Place, 3501Executive Parkway.
It is hosted by the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter. There will be complimentary food, door prizes, and a program at 6 p.m. Team captain packets will be available.
The aim of the event is to support efforts to end Alzheimer's disease and get ready for the 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer's, slated for Oct. 20 at the Lucas County Recreation Center.
