Shingles vaccine seminar offered at Portage Valley
PEMBERVILLE – On Jan. 16, Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community on Pemberville Road will
host a seminar from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. about the Shingles vaccine that is now available.
Rite Aid Pharmacy and Gentiva Home Health will be co-sponsors of the event.
Almost one out of three people in America will develop shingles during their lifetime. The risk increases
as people age. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) suggests that people 60 years of age or older get
vaccinated. Find out about how you can receive the vaccine. A question and answer session will be
included in the event.

New Adventures Group to meet
The New Adventures Group will meet Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. Group membes will tour the Agricultural Incubator,
13737 Middleton Pike, Bowling Green.
This tour will introduce a unique organization designed to assist in small agricultural businesses in
today’s competitive marketplace. View the production of Willy’s Salsa and then tour the facility.
Cost is $2 with lunch to follow at Te’Kela Restaurant in perrysburg. Lunch cost is on your own.
Transportation will be provided or meet the group there.

Jan. 14 first date to make AARP tax aide appointments
County seniors are reminded that the AARP -sponsored tax assistance program will be available beginning
Feb. 5 and will run until April 10 at the Wood County Senior Center, 305 N. Main St., Bowling Green.
These are trained and certified volunteer counselors.
Note: Seniors should be sure to bring the following to your appointment: social security card, all forms
showing income, a copy of your 2012 income tax return, expense records; if any asset were sold
volunteers need to know the cost basis and date of purchase, voided check for electronic refund.
