The Otsego High School Class of 1963 celebrated its 50th anniversary during a Sept. 13-15 weekend reunion.
The class of 52 members received diplomas on May 23, 1963 in University Hall on the Bowling Green State University campus.
A committee of seven began meeting in August 2013, and monthly thereafter, to put together this reunion.
The initial gathering was Friday evening at Porky's Pizza prior to attending the Otsego football game, a home game which Otsego won in overtime against Bowling Green High School. The class was given special recognition during the game.
On Saturday morning the group toured the present Otsego buildings. Superintendent Adam Koch and his son Landon led the tour.
The 50-year graduates found the new facility very impressive.
A banquet was held that evening at Nazareth Hall, highlighted by camaraderie, laughter and memories. Master of Ceremonies Tom German opened the dinner with prayer and quiet time in memory of the six deceased class members. It was followed by recognition of all the military members present.
Entertainment was provided by the Hot Flashes, who brought the music of the class's own era to life in song and dance.
Class members attending the events were: Bob Ackerman, Jim Bernthisel, John Brooks, Joanne Cook Guida, Becky Cox Chamberlin, Gloris Creps Castles, Dale Current, Jeannie Current Zvanovec, Marie Fausnaugh Dean, David Digby.
Greg Dauster, German, Dorothy Hurm Haas, Judy Kellermeier Robinson, Beverly Knapp Roberts, Doug Lee. Sharon Lahman Limes, Chuck Limes, Rollie Limes, Roger Long, Carol Mawer Poe, Bill Morlock, John Patterson, Bob Potter.
Stanna Richards Golbinec, Mary Jane Seketa Bressler, Betty Tolles Gordon, Merry Whitmer Pomeroy and Gillian "Jill" Wentz Witham. Also attending were 23 spouses.
The class was joined by two former teachers: Delores Black, physical education, and Bernard Scott, vocational agriculture, and his wife Jean.
The majority of the class thought it important to acknowledge their age by meeting two years from now, in 2015, to jointly celebrate their 70th birthdays.
