|Goodwin honored as outstanding senior volunteer|

Bowling Green resident Elaine Goodwin has been named a 2013 Northwest Ohio Outstanding Senior Volunteer honorable mentions winner.
She was one of 15 senior volunteers so honored from among a pool of almost 300 people nominated in northwest Ohio, according to Medical Mutual of Ohio, which hosted the recognition.
Goodwin was nominated for the honor by the Wood County Hospital Guild. She volunteers at the county hospital on a daily basis, delivers Wheeled Meals to home-bound seniors, and serves the community in many other ways.
She is a longtime member of St. Thomas More University Parish in Bowling Green, where she is a eucharistic minister. An active St. Vincent DePaul food pantry volunteer, Goodwin distributes food to families in need, and visits food banks and warehouses in Toledo to keep the STM St. Vincent DePaul pantry shelves filled.
Medical Mutual recently hosted an awards luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg in honor of the area outstanding volunteers.
They note that the Senior Volunteer Awards salute volunteers who act in a selfless, caring manner and are committed to enhancing the quality of the lives of those around them. Nominations are accepted from community organizations, and limited to volunteers 65 or older.
