The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. will once again be participating in the March for Meals "Community Champions" program along with elected officials and community champions from across Wood County. Over 30 elected officials are set to participate - from township trustees, to council members, to mayors, and many more, including U.S. Congressman Robert Latta, of Ohio's 5th District.
Latta will be riding with WCCOA driver Jack Klein on Wednesday. He will start at the Wood County Committee on Aging's Production Kitchen, located at 1860 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, at approximately 10:15 a.m. and ride with Klein to deliver warm meals to older adults across Wood County.
Most elected officials and community champions will participate on Wednesday, with others participating on different days throughout next week.
Officials will participate throughout Wood County. Officials will pick up meals at the senior center closest to their route, or the production kitchen. The WCCOA has seven senior center locations:
• North Baltimore, 514 W. Water St. North Baltimore
• Northeast, 705 North Main St. Walbridge
• Pemberville, 220 Cedar St. Pemberville
• Perrysburg, 140 W. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg
• Rossford, 400 Dixie Highway, Rossford
• Wayne, 202 E. Main St., Wayne
• Wood County, Bowling Green
Meals are to be picked up at approximately 11 a.m. at the production kitchen for those delivering in the Bowling Green area, and at approximately 11:15-11:30 a.m. at the senior center locations outside of Bowling Green.
The WCCOA staff are gratified to have so many elected officials and community champions participating as part of this event aimed at ending senior hunger.
March for Meals is a national campaign during the month of March, initiated by the Meals On Wheels Association of America, which seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger in the local community.
For more information contact the senior center at (419) 353-5661, (800) 367-4935 or www.wccoa.net.
