Six Ohio World War II vets to be awarded French Legion of Honor PDF Print E-mail

SANDUSKY - Six northern Ohio veterans who helped liberate France during World War II are being awarded that country's Medal of Knight of the Legion of Honor in a 1 p.m. ceremony today in Veterans Hall of the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
The medals will be presented by Honorary Consul of France Stephen Knerly Jr., assisted by Ohio Department of Veterans Services Director Tim Gorrell.
Being honored are:
• Charles Malachosky, 92, of Cuyahoga Falls, who entered the Armed Forces in 1942 and served as a technician 5th grade in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Armored Division. He served overseas from February 1944 until April 1946, and participated in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Malachosky is a recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with five battle stars, among other awards.
• Richard R. Robb, 95, of the Ohio Veterans Home - Sandusky.

Lights show and Christmas on Broadway to be performed at Portage Valley on Dec. 5 PDF Print E-mail

PEMBERVILLE - Residents of Otterbein Portage Valley Senior Lifestyle Community will present a Christmas theatrical production titled "Christmas on Broadway" on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
On that night there will be something fun for the entire family. Villa homes will be lit at 5 p.m. to kick off the Christmas season.  Horse drawn wagon rides from 5 - 6:30 will be provided by Nissen Farms. Rides are at no charge with the donation of non-perishable food for the local food pantry.  Children will be able to visit with Santa and make a Christmas craft. Photos with Santa will be taken.
At 7 p.m., the residents and staff of Otterbein will present their annual costumed Christmas pageant, which is also open to the public. Following the play, guests will be treated to Christmas cookies by the hearth.

Terra State to host Plus 50 healthcare event PDF Print E-mail

FREMONT - Terra State Community College is hosting its second Plus 50 Career event on Dec. 4.
The focus of this event will be careers in the healthcare field, namely medical scribe/medical coding, health information technology, medical assisting, medical office administration, pharmacy technician training and State Tested Nurse Aide training.
"We will explain how to return to school, including the admissions process, campus resources and financial aid information," said Kathy Berger, who coordinates the program at Terra. "Participants will also be able to explore our labs and interact with a panel of local healthcare professionals."
Lab tours will begin at 5:30 p.m., the panel will begin at 6:15 and campus tours will begin about 6:30.
There is no charge for this event. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
