MONDAY
9 a.m.  Class: Get Fit by Video
10:30 a.m.  Intergenerational Fun Day with All About the Kids. Theme: Static Electricity
Noon Lunch:  Country-fried Steak or Honey Mustard Chicken Breast
1 p.m. Wii Bowling
1 p.m.  Class: Water Fitness, Bowling Green Care Center, 850 W. Poe; $15 for 6 weeks, register

SilverSneakers and Prime passes accepted in BG
The Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department will now be accepting Healthways SilverSneakers and Prime enrollments beginning Monday at the Bowling Green National Guard Training and Community Center.
All eligible Silver Sneakers and Prime participants are invited to join and are asked to bring their insurance card at the time of enrollment. Current Community Center pass holders who qualify for these programs will be enrolled after their current pass expires.
The BG Community Center hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Perrysburg Commons delivers Heart-a-Grams to area seniors
PERRYSBURG - Perrysburg Commons offered a way for the community to say "Happy Valentine's Day" to a special senior citizen in their life.  The Commons took orders for a delivery of a complimentary Valentine's box filled with a half dozen heart-shaped cookies, along with a message from the caller, to anyone over the age of 65 residing in Perrysburg.
During the week of Feb. 10 Perrysburg Commons hit the streets to make the deliveries to more than 40 households.  
"It was so nice to make Valentine's Day special for many folks. We received many hugs and smiles," said Susan Snoddy, admissions director.

BG league program is on aging in your own home PDF Print E-mail

The League of Women Voters of Bowling Green is hosting a public program titled "Aging in Your Home" on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m.
It will be held in the Interior Design Lab on the Bowling Green State University campus, which is located in Suite 61 of McDonald North at 457 Thurstin Ave.  
Free parking is available in the lot off Thurstin just outside the lab and in the St. Thomas More church parking lot across the street.
Students from BGSU's interior design program will discuss adaptations to make homes safer and enable people to remain in their homes as they grow older.  Materials will be on display, a local carpenter will be available, and after the presentation students will be available for individual consultations with attendees.
The program is free and open to the public.

Nominate an outstanding older Ohioan for the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame PDF Print E-mail

COLUMBUS - The Ohio Department of Aging is accepting nominations for outstanding individuals to be inducted into the 2014 Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.
Individuals and organizations interested in nominating a neighbor, colleague, family member or friend may visit www.aging.ohio.gov/news/halloffame/ for more information, to submit a nomination or download the nomination form.
"So many of our older Ohioans - our Golden Buckeyes - are defined not by their age, but by the good work they have done and continue to do," said Bonnie K. Burman, director of the department.
"The Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame honors the vital roles our elders play in their communities, across the state and nationwide, while it promotes the benefits of active, productive and purposeful living at all points in our lives."

Wood County Committee on Aging to hold monthly Podiatry Clinic PDF Print E-mail

The Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA) is set to begin offering a monthly podiatry clinic.
The first clinic will be held next Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. The clinic will be at the Wood County Senior Center location, 305 N. Main St., Bowling Green.
Drs. Joshua Morris and R. Scott Johnston of Maumee Bay Foot and Ankle Specialists will offer help with foot screenings, ulcer and open wound care, toenail trimming and diabetic education.
