Walbridge church hosts 5K walk and run as fundraiser

WALBRIDGE – St. Jerome Catholic Church’s seventh annual Ohio/Mich. 5K run/walk was held in
Walbridge on Saturday. Organizers reported a good turnout of runners and walkers along with the sponsors and
race workers to support those in the event. They were thankful for a nice sunny day. All proceeds from this
race support St. Kateri Catholic School System and St. Jerome’s youth.The overall winners were Julius Kiptoo
for the men with a time of 16:12; and Tammy Bengella with a time of 20:59 to finish first for the females
and ninth overall. Both runners are from Toledo.The Masters division winners were Matt Ridel from Maumee for
the men and Lisa Diekman of Martin for the women. Ridel posted a time of 19:22, which was fifth overall;
while Diekman’s time was 23.37, which was 22nd overall.A complete list of the top finishers in each division
