GRAND RAPIDS - There will be a pancake breakfast Saturday at New Life Community Church, located at the corner of Woodburn Avenue and Second Street in Grand Rapids.
Serving will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Donations will help students in the church.

Fat Tuesday's free pancakes
PEMBERVILLE - Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar Street, Pemberville, will host a free pancake supper on "Fat Tuesday", from 6 to 8 p.m. for the whole community. Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) is a traditional day of indulging prior to the Lenten observance which begins the following day, Ash Wednesday.
Organizers indicate "Free means free." However, donations of  boxes of pancake batter, syrup or disposable dinnerware for the ministry of "Just Pancakes," will be accepted. That charity provides a free meal every Saturday for those in need in North Toledo.
