Kutless to perform Sunday at Exclaim
TOLEDO - For the third consecutive year, the Exclaim outdoor Christian music festival will be held this Sunday at the Monsignor Schmit CYO Athletic Complex, 555 S. Holland-Sylvania Road, Toledo.
One of the hottest Christian bands in the country, Kutless, will be the featured performer at Exclaim 2012. This is a free one-day Gates open at 1 p.m, and the event will last until 9 p.m.
Exclaim is a family event that features three live nationally prominent Christian bands: Josh Blakesley will perform at 2 p.m, The City Harmonic takes the stage at 3:30 p.m.; while Kutless entertains at 5 p.m.
There will also be music from Canons, a local band; games; children's activities; vendor exhibits; and an outdoor Eucharistic Adoration chapel. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be sold.
The culmination of the festival will be a Catholic Mass at 7 p.m. that will include clergy from across the diocese and music from Blakesley and his band.
Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, money for food and beverages, sunscreen, and water.
Those who bring tents for shade will be asked to set up their tents around the perimeter of the seating area in order not to obstruct the view of others.
No pets, alcoholic beverages or cigarettes are permitted on the CYO Athletic Complex.
The first Exclaim music festival was held in August of 2010.  "Jen Ohms (Exclaim co-Director) and I wanted to create a positive Catholic event for the Toledo area and offer it for free," said Michael Puppos, Exclaim co-Director.  "Our goal was, and is, to have people walk away from this festival inspired and ready to put their faith into action. We want to reach out to Catholics and Christians who no longer go to church so they can see how the Catholic Church is real, relevant and alive."
There are some new elements of Exclaim this year. A second, smaller stage has been added and will feature Canons, a local band, faith-related workshops, and even a magic act.
The main stage has a new design, including a large video board.
