More than 750 people, including 500 youth, will travel from northwest Ohio to the nation's capital to participate in the annual March for Life today. Among those participating will be a contingent from St. Thomas More University Parish, which has coordinated a trip for 110 people, including more than 55 Bowling Green State University students. The annual event draws tens of thousands of youth and pro-life supporters each year to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. The march begins at the National Mall and concludes at the Supreme Court building. Bishop Leonard P. Blair will also participate in the March for Life and attend a Youth Rally and Mass for Life at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center along with 350 youth and chaperones from the Diocese of Toledo. Also attending will be a group of 12 youth and chaperones from St. Michael Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, as well as 62 students and chaperones from St. Wendelin Catholic School, Fostoria. There will be several groups from various cities and parishes across the 19-county diocese in attendance including students and others from Delphos, Lima, Bucyrus, Fremont, Mansfield, Port Clinton, Sandusky, Findlay and Toledo. |
