Bowling Green will be the site on Sept. 21 of a samagan (convention) for the Bhagwan Shree Lakshmi Narayan Dham, one of the largest spiritual institutes in the world today.
The event will welcome Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami Ji, the spiritual leader of the movement, who is referred to by his devotees as "His Holiness."
The samagan will be held at 14355 Campbell Hill Road, property owned and operated by the Prabhu Kripa Lakshmi Narayan Dham (PKLND), one of the worldwide headquarters for the BSLND. Dham is a name for a temple in English. The event is expected to draw hundreds of followers.
According to the Wood County Auditor's website, the 20-acre site was purchased Feb. 13 this year for $425,000.
According to Anshu Saxena, who has been handling this office, first in Georgia and then in Findlay for the past few years, they were looking at various sites in the area because of the volume of devotees found not only in Bowling Green, but also in Columbus and Michigan.
She said they made Ohio, specifically Bowling Green the head office for the organization.
Saxena said the devotees will gather at 2 p.m., however the spiritual leader will be in private reflection until he appears around 6 or 7 p.m.
His devotees will be given their annual "Divine Beej-Mantras" (also called Cosmic Sound Secrets)
"The sounds cure us," she said. "It changes every year."
According to the website, these conventions are "organized time to time at different places in the world. Anybody interested in obtaining Cosmic Sound Secrets should attend any one of these conventions."
The Beej-Mantras are not provided in any other form or manner, and can only be obtained individually at the samagan. Those who have received them are not permitted to share them with others.
The local director added that the spiritual leader "will answer any questions related to any topic."
She added he will know all about those in attendance and anyone present will be cured of any ills.
"He will understand everything," she said.
Compared to other religions, Saxena noted there is not necessarily a name given to the belief or its followers.
"He doesn't belong to any one religion. He believes all is one and all is the same - It is everything together."
According to material provided, "Nearly 300 million people are practicing Cosmic Sound Secrets through the Divine Science of Cosmic Sound Secrets or Grace, throughout the world."
In the same brochure, Swami Ji claims, "With the entry of light, darkness disappears. With the presence and practise of Cosmic Sound Secrets, suffering disappears. Ice and water are two forms of the same substance. The only difference is that whilst one has form and colour, the other is formless. That is the exact difference between God and a Master. One has a form, and the other is formless."
He also has touted the fact that "everything that we can see or cannot see comes from the play of cosmic energy."
According to him the sole cause of all the sufferings of mankind is not to be in tune with the cosmic energy.
The organization's website touts that the leader " is a remarkable God-gifted genius, unparalleled in the disciplines of comprehending the secrets of the universal truth. He has touched the lives of thousands with his love and benevolence."
Udaya Sharma, is a past attendee of the one he calls his spiritual master, and says, "He looks at the person, and takes away all the pain."
Sharma is helping to coordinate the local convention.
He notes how the leader has been all over the world, meeting with various world leaders including U.S. senators and congressman, Queen Elizabeth, and countless other national leaders. They claim all these spiritual and government leaders have benefitted.
"It's difficult to believe, most people don't believe," Sharma said.
Reiterating Saxena's comments, he added, "It is all totally spiritual and not affiliated with any religion."
He said the leaders goal is to relieve human suffering.
"Whoever attends will be benefitted, that is for sure. I want more people to be benefitted, that is my intent," Sharma said.
"It's very unusual to find a person like that. It is very difficult to believe or comprehend," he added of what he perceives as the leader's omnipotent powers.
The institutes website confirms that belief, stating the goal is "to eliminate human sorrows and sufferings."
The spiritual leader was born Jan. 22, 1954 into an ordinary farmer family in Karanpur, Rajasthan. He later became involved in the spiritual streams and also was a physician.
"He has given a new direction to the medical science by combining it with the science of cosmic," his website states.
Saxena says the spiritual leader's native language is Hindi, and he will bring a translator.
The public is invited to attend.
