Two churches will venture into the humor of their faith traditions on Sunday as they both observe "Holy Humor Sunday."
Rev. Jennifer Jackson's sermon for Holy Humor Sunday at Haskins Community Church will be "The Easter Laugh." The service will be held at 9:30 a.m.
After the long winter, Trinity United Methodist in Bloomdale celebrates its annual Holy Humor Sunday with this year's theme being, "Ready for Summer? Life's a Beach! Come Have Fun in the Son."
There will be recorded music from the Beach Boys and those attending are invited to wear sunglasses and appropriate (modest) beachwear. The congregation is also invited bring jokes to share and a lively spirit. The service begins at 9 a.m.
Pastor Jeff Ridenour says he wants those who attend to "enjoy hearing about that early Surfer Dude, Jesus, as he talked to the Boys on the Beach in Galilee before riding the big wave to Heaven."
