MAUMEE - A local sex abuse story takes center stage at 6 p.m. Saturday, for the third film in Toledo Faith & Values' "Faith Under Fire" April film series. "Twist of Faith" follows Toledo resident Tony Comes, a firefighter who makes the painful choice to confront his childhood abuser - a Catholic priest - 20 years after the fact.
The film will be followed a brief talk by an expert panel and audience Q&A hosted by David Yonke, editor of Toledo Faith & Values.
This week's panelists include the documentary's subject, firefighter Tony Comes; Jon Schoonmaker, a licensed professional counselor and certified clinical trauma professional; and Claudia Vercelloti, who with Schoonmaker co-founded the Toledo chapter of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests.
The film and discussion will be held at Calvary Church, 1360 Conant Street, Maumee, (the former Maumee 18 Cineplex).
Suggested donation is $10. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit, nonsectarian religion news website, ToledoFAVS.com.
