Custar parish set to celebrate 150th year

CUSTAR – St. Louis Parish in Custar, is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the parish this year. It is
also the 125th anniversary of the church building.
Many activities are going on throughout the year.
The big celebration is set for Aug. 2 with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 4 p.m. Former priests and sisters
who have served, as well as other alumni of the school are especially invited to attend. It is also open
to the public.
The Mass will be followed by dinner and music. The beer tent will be open until 10 p.m. The
"Archives Room" will also be open and feature many new pictures and items.
On Aug. 3, the annual parish festival with barbecue chicken and ham dinner will start at 11 a.m.
The festival also features games for the children, a taco stand, the beer garden, bingo, kiddie tractor
pull, a corn hole tournament and music. The "Country Store" will be open and the raffle prize
winners will be drawn at 8 p.m. The 2014 cookbook will be available for $15.
Organizers look forward to seeing everyone as it celebrates its heritage.
The church service and parish festival will both be held at the St. Louis campus located on Ohio 281, in
Custar, west of Ohio 235 in southwest Wood County.
