Christmas with Santa
GRAND RAPIDS - New Life Community Wesleyan Church will be having "Christmas with Santa" this Saturday. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon, with Santa on hand from 9 to 10 a.m.
Donations from the pancake breakfast will be used to support students from the church going to Indiana Wesleyan University. The church is located at the corner of Woodburn Ave. and Second Street in Grand Rapids.
Holiday cookies offered
ROSSFORD - The ninth annual "Cookie Walk" event for St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 738 Glenwood Road, Rossford, is set for Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organizers note that the doors will open at 9:30 a.m. to hand out pastry line numbers, but the walk will not begin until 10 a.m.
The officials note many customers in past years have found this to be a great alternative for those who have no time to bake themselves.
Among the popular offerings are a variety of holiday cookies, kolachi (apricot, raspberry, nut, poppy seed and prune), triopataa (cheese triangles), as well as specialty items, books and gifts and ethnic foods to go.
Cookies may be bought by the pound.
'Saturday Night A-LIVE'
PEMBERVILLE - Bethlehem Lutheran Church will host a special event called "Saturday Night A-LIVE" this Saturday, at 5 p.m. in the church's Fellowship Hall.
The music and message will be done by Ps98 with pizza, additional food and fellowship at 6 p.m. Festivities will include activities for the children.
The community is encouraged to attend and bring a canned good for the food pantry.
Birthday party for Jesus
RUDOLPH - The Rudolph Christian Church, 13868 Mermill Road, will host a birthday party for Jesus on Dec. 15. The party will be in the Social Room of the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Food, crafts, games and a visit from jolly old St. Nick, will be part of up evening's festivities. Organizers are planning to provide fun for all ages in the Rudolph community.
The event is free and open to all.
Concert tickets available
PERRYSBURG - Tickets are still available for the special concert "Christmas Carols" at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Blessed John XXIII Parish, 24250 Dixie Highway, Perrysburg. The concert will feature the Perrysburg Symphony, the Toledo Choral Society and the church's mixed choir. The concert will feature excerpts from Handel's Messiah, a Christmas sing-along and more.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Interim named for Mt. Zion
WAYNE - Mark Ralph has been appointed as the interim pastor for Mt. Zion United Brethren Church in rural Wayne. He began serving the church in October.
No steak supper in Dec.
McCLURE - The McClure United Methodist Church will not hold its monthly baked steak supper in November. The next supper is set for Jan. 11.
Christmas musical set
HOLLAND - The 37th annual Christmas musical for Holland Free United Methodist Church will be held Dec. 14 and Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. It will be at the church, 6605 Angola Road, Holland, behind the Spring Meadows Mall.
"Repeat the Sounding Joy, the Never Ending Christmas Story," is a musical by Deborah Craig-Claar with David T. Clydesdale
Nursery and refreshments provided.
The musical moves from modern day through different eras back to Bethlehem.
Christmas deadline reminder
As announced last week, the deadline for churches to submit information regarding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services is Dec. 14 at noon.
Listings will be published in a special edition which will be inserted into the Dec. 19 newspaper. The listing for the weekend services of Dec. 22-23 will be published as usual on Dec. 21, with the regular deadline of noon on Dec. 19.
