LATCHA - Zion Lutheran Church in rural Perrysburg (Latcha), is featuring an online daily devotion for the Christmas season. The devotion, found at, mixes the tradition of daily devotions during the Advent season with the more modern use of social media.
Each day features a word which highlights the meaning of the season, a blog and a picture taken by photographer and graphic designer, Erik Teichmann.
"It's a wonderful way to prepare for the celebration of Jesus' birth, and we hope that by using social media we may reach out to folks who are on the go during this busy season," says Pastor Sarah Teichmann of Zion Lutheran.
The devotions and photos will continue to be posted daily through Christmas Day, and will remain archived online after the holiday season.

Father Charles F. Ritter
TOLEDO - Following the transfer of Archbishop Leonard P. Blair who was installed as Archbishop of Hartford, CT on Monday the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Toledo has elected Father Charles F. Ritter to serve as diocesan administrator.
According to canon law, the College of Consultors is required to elect the administrator within eight days of the vacancy of the see - the day on which Archbishop Blair was installed in Hartford. Ritter will begin serving as administrator immediately.
According to Rev. Monte Hoyles, chancellor for the diocese, "the role of the administrator is to essentially maintain the operations of the diocese - to keep the status quo - and provide for the needs of the faithful until the next bishop is named by the Holy Father."
Ritter, 71, currently serves as associate pastor of Saint Joseph Parish, Sylvania. He has previously served as pastor of Saint Patrick Parish, Bryan, and Saint Mary Parish, Leipsic; he also has served as an associate pastor at various parishes throughout the Diocese of Toledo. In addition to his parochial assignments, Ritter has also served as director of the diocesan social justice office. He was ordained in 1967.

Churches often house food pantries, and many who don't have one of their own will support the community food pantry. In this holiday season of giving and thanksgiving, most every church congregation makes a special effort to remember those in need.
Among the food drives this year, one involved two young lads who charmed the congregation at a Luckey church, and the staff of Wood County Hospital who honored one of the volunteers by supporting the food pantry at her Bowling Green church.
At Zion United Methodist Church in Luckey, the congregation were surprised as a John Deere tractor came down the aisle? No, it wasn't a full size Deere, but one being pedaled by a young man with a wagon in tow and the driver's brother close at hand.
Although food collections are a regular occurrence, this one was different. As the time for the offering came, Pastor Ernie Sampson of Zion asked two young boys to come forward.
