A service fit for the beasts

HASKINS – St. Paul Lutheran Church and Haskins Community Church are offering a community "Blessing
of the Beasts" service on June 8, at 2 p.m. The service is being held at Lusher Park
Though the churches regularly work together on various projects and services, this is the first time they
have offered this community service for animals.
The public is invited to bring their pets on a leash or in a crate and farm animals are welcome to
participate.
Organizers say in addition to the blessing the service will be a way to "thank God for his gifts of
beasts great and small."
Those attending may wish to bring a lawn chair. Light refreshments for both the animals and humans will
be provided.
Admission is free, however, organizers are urging donations to support the Wood County Humane Society.

In addition to freewill cash donations, a suggested needs list for the Humane Society includes: bleach,
liquid detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, washcloths, blankets, towels, canned pate (ground) cat
food for kittens, Revolution (flea and heartworm preventative items for cats and dogs); gas gift cards
for the society’s vehicles; and both cat and dog toys.
