Workers from Campbellsville Industries work on the new steeple for St. Rose Parish on Front Street Tuesday. The nearly 120-year-old church building was struck by lightning during an April thunderstorm, setting the copper steeple on fire and toppling the cross that sat atop it. The new steepletop, like the former one, features copper shingles that will slowly oxidize to the color of the rest of the steeple. The cost of the project, upwards of $400,000, is being covered entirely by insurance. (Photo: J.D. Pooley/Sentinel-Tribune) SEE MORE PHOTOS |
