At least
six fire departments battled a house fire at Custar Road and Hammansburg Road in Jackson Township. There
are no reports of injuries. Winds are gusting upwards of 30 mph with a temperature of nine degrees. The
scene is at the northwest corner of the intersection. The Wood County Auditor’s website indicates the
property at 23046 Hammansburg Road is owned by Edwin and Helen Moses. Tankers emptied water into
portable tanks at the scene and went to Custar four miles to the north for more water. Jackson and
Milton Township firefighters were called first and later requested help from McComb, Central Joint,
Deshler and Weston. At 2:20 p.m. a tanker was requested from North Baltimore. Fire command asked Wood
County dispatch to have the State Fire Marshal’s office call the scene. The fire scene is about 20 miles
southwest of Bowling Green. (Photos: J.D. Pooley/Sentinel-Tribune) SEE MORE
