Lake football ranked 18th
COLUMBUS — Lake’s football team was 18th in the third weekly Division IV state high school football poll.
The Flyers, 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Buckeye Conference, received 14 points in the media voting.

Hammond sent to AHL
Former Bowling Green Falcon goalie Andrew Hammond was assigned to the American Hockey League’s Binghamton Senators on Monday.
Hammond had been in training camp with the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators. He appeared in three games, stopping 49-of-53 shots for a 2.40 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
Two from BGSU earn MAC volleyball honors
CLEVELAND —Lindsey Butterfield and Kaitlyn Skinner, both seniors on the Bowling Green State University volleyball team, have been named Mid-American Conference players of the week.
Butterfield, who had 36 kills and 31 digs in two matches, was named the MAC East offensive player of the week.
Skinner, who contributed 16 kills and 15 blocks, was named MAC East co-defensive player of the week.
The award is the first for Butterfield in 2013, while Skinner earns the weekly award for the second time.
BG went 2-0 in conference play last week.
BG rugby wins
The Bowling Green State University rugby club beat Cincinnati, 53-14 Saturday.
Dane Szente had two tries and four conversions for BG while Nolan Cavano scored twice and Matt Marquette, from Perrysburg High School, scored one try.
