Kucera has shoulder surgery
Bowing Green sophomore defenseman Connor Kucera had surgery to remove scar tissue from his shoulder earlier this week, Falcon hockey coach Chris Bergeron said Friday.
Bergeron said Kucera will be healthy in time for the start of BG’s fall conditioning in mid-August.
Kucera, one of BG’s best defensemen, had a goal and seven assists and on-ice rating of plus-2 in 40 games last season. — GORDON

Dates announced for NCAA
regional hockey in Toledo
The NCAA Midwest Regional hockey tournament at the Huntington Center in Toledo will be played Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 in 2013.
The dates for the regional were announced Friday by the NCAA. Bowling Green is hosting the regional.
The semifinals are the first day, followed by the championship game the second day.
The East Regional also is March 30-31 and will be played in Providence, R.I. The other regionals are March 29-30 with the West Regional in Grand Rapids, Mich. and the Northeast Regional in Manchester, N.H.
The regional champions advance to the NCAA Frozen Four April 11 and 13 at The Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, home of the NHL’s Penguins.

Falcon volleyball plans
scrimmage
The Bowling Green State University volleyball team is holding a Brown and Orange scrimmage on Aug. 18, which will include a clinic for students of all ages and an opportunity for fans to meet the team. All events will be free and open to the public.
The Brown and Orange scrimmage will take place at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a meet-and-greet opportunity. As well, students of all ages will be invited to take part in a free volleyball clinic following the match.

Mud Hens schedule 4th of July activities
TOLEDO —The Toledo Mud Hens are planning holiday specials Tuesday and Wednesday at Fifth Third Field.
A pregame all you can eat buffet is planned from 5-7 p.m. on The Nest Party Deck both Tuesday and Wednesday.  The price is $30 for adults and $20 for children (3-12) and includes the buffet and a game ticket. Live music and activities for children are also planned both days.
The Mud Hens post-game fireworks are planned Tuesday and on Wednesday the Mud Hens fireworks are after the game and the City of Toledo fireworks will begin at approximately 10 p.m.
